Before you get married, you think you might know everything, did all the research, read all the books, went to pre-marital counseling, and more. But it’s not until you actually step into marriage that you will know and truly experience it and know what it is like to have a spouse and be one together.
And, there will be many lessons learned, fights fought, and hard times to be had. Even though marriage seems like the most perfect fairytale ending, like this phrase, “and they lived happily ever after”, it’s only the beginning, and it’s up to both of you to make the best or the worst of it. At the end of the day, the only One who is perfect and sets the example of a godly spouse in marriage is Jesus Christ, not your spouse!
It’s important to realize how marriage can change yourself and your spouse differently and also together, for the better or for worse. If you are with the right person, you will both grow into a loving & stronger married couple, living out your God-given mission and sharing the example of a godly marriage for all to witness. This is why we wanted to sit down and share 10 important reflections we have learned & wished we knew before we got married in a Christian perspective.
